The Foyer evolves
The Foyer Michaël is entering its fifty-first year. In dialogue with stakeholders, educators, students and other institutions, we worked on our school project. This work has led to the emergence of new perspectives that we wish to share in general terms.
PEDAGOGICAL ASPECTS
The modifications of the training program mainly focus on three aspects:
Develop individual sensitivity, strength of character and aesthetic education by giving even more space to the practice of art and craft. We have seen that an intense dive into artistic and craft activities constitutes an essential basis of the training. Year after year, this observation is more and more true: to put people at the center, artistic practice is an inexhaustible resource.
Awaken individual cognitive activity by giving a new dynamic to theoretical contributions. We have created thematic weeks (modules), allowing you to fully immerse yourself in a particular subject and bringing together theoretical and practical aspects. We have also developed the collaborative dimension of the courses by offering several speakers on the same theme.
Enter the practical experience by giving more space to manual activities such as market gardening, vegetable processing and landscaping. This aspect will be implemented through a weekly day of practical activities.
PARTNERSHIP DIMENSION
Today it is necessary for the Foyer Michaël to enter the public domain further by developing its links and official recognitions:
Partnerships with other training courses. We are in the process of better defining the role of Foyer Michaël and how it relates to other formations. We thus wish to participate in the structuring of the anthroposophical training environment in France.
Dialogue with institutions to find a legal status that will allow better recognition of the Foyer Michaël and give it the opportunity to develop according to its originality.
Explain the approach inspired by anthroposophy, its history, its positioning, explain our methods and justify them - contextualize our approach.
DIVERSIFICATION OF RESOURCES
Finally, it must be said that these changes are also reflected in material and financial terms. The Foyer has the potential to gradually move to another level:
At the local level: through artistic and craft workshops, open to the local public and participating in the economy of the territory; by using ecologically all the food and energy resources that our place offers us.
At the French level: by developing short training modules (a few days), to broaden access to people who are not able to follow the training full time over a year.
On a European and international level: by making our training more accessible to a foreign audience; by seeking aid, financial support, and by soliciting all foundations likely to support our project.
