Report in the city

This year is not like the others ... We planned to invite you to celebrate the 50 years of the Foyer the 19 June next. Unfortunately, health constraints are pushing us not to open our doors to the public for this end of the year. We have therefore decided to concoct a little film for you. It will be released early July 2021. It will focus on the students' journey during the preparation of the end of year play: from the start of rehearsals to the performance which will take place without an audience.

Jean tardieu

The play was written by the poet Jean Tardieu and is entitled “The city without sleep”: a science fiction whose images reflect our time. Today, where everything must be rational and calculable, one can wonder if the fact of sleeping will not soon be called into question. What could be more “unproductive” than sleep for a society which is still and ever more seeking to be productive? Wouldn't such a society be asking itself the question of a remedy, a drug, to no longer need to sleep?

Professor Buisson is developing an antidote that can free people from sleep. A man, the promoter, grabs the find and puts the scientist aside. Under the pretext of optimizing time as much as possible, sleep is suppressed. The inhabitants of the city are no longer allowed to sleep. Anyone caught in the act is thrown in prison… But in the long run, sleep and dreams being banished, strange phenomena appear… It is nightmares that take their revenge. Fortunately, in the midst of nightmares, love will form a solid ground to regain sanity.

Introducing video into this project allows for an exciting new artistic experience and we look forward to sharing the fruit of this work with you at the beginning of July.
