Modeling and singing: the figures of femininity

  • Foyer Michaël The beguets 03210 SAINT MENOUX France (map)

Descriptive

From the darkest to the brightest, from the most familiar to the strangest, female deities have accompanied human history since the dawn of time. Whether we are interested in the Christian Virgin, the Gnostic Sophia, the Roman Venus, the Greek Aphrodite, the Egyptian Isis, the Mesopotamian Ishtar, or even the Paleolithic Venuses, it is always and again from the same entity, the same original source which shows itself under different faces depending on the times, places, and cultures. Everyone will find different words to describe it: a presence that welcomes, cares for and protects; strength of resistance, dynamism, movement; love that gives birth and unites…

One thing is certain: in its essence and future, humanity is intimately linked to this feminine entity. It could even be that taming it in ourselves in its different facets is a helpful element in overcoming the crises of our time. Our objective will therefore be to experiment and give shape to these feminine figures through modeling and singing. For modeling, as for singing, the days will be punctuated by exercise times as well as daily work time on a work which will be the fruit of our week (and which could possibly be presented to a small local audience for close the internship). No prior level in singing or modeling is required to take the course. To register, you simply need to want to sing and shape the earth, and also to have a minimum of interest in the theme.

15 August is a special date since it is the Christian feast of the Assumption of the Virgin or Dormition among Orthodox Christians. This ascent to heaven of Mary can be linked to summer nature which rises to the heights of the sky. This marriage of sky and earth which, in a certain way, recurs every year in the heart of summer, seems to us a particularly fruitful moment to sing together and model this great feminine figure which embraces the universe. We will take advantage of the proximity of the town of Moulins to visit the cathedral and contemplate together the magnificent triptych of the Virgin of the Master of Moulins as well as the sculpture of the Black Madonna.
